Zuppa Toascana

this will make an appearance this winter...hoping we get at least a couple cool nights this winter...
Healthier Olive Garden's Zuppa Toscana
via Oh, Bite me
1 lb pastured sausage
1 sweet potato (e.g. Japanese sweet potatoes) OR small red potatoes 
1 large onion, chopped
2 strips of bacon -cooked and crumbled (optional)
3 tsp garlic powder
2 c kale
2 c chicken broth
4 C water
1 c unsweetened almond milk or you could use a 1/2 c heavy cream
1 tb of chili powder
salt/pepper to taste
